Volunteering

We are looking for individuals aged 18 and older, at every level of experience. While some assignments may require specific skills, many are entry-level opportunities. Those from outside the Toronto area are welcome, however travel and accommodation are not provided.

The festival runs from June 19 – 28 and we ask volunteers to commit to supporting the first half of the event from June 19-23 OR the second half, June 24-28. Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of three shifts. You are invited to sign up for more to fill out your volunteer experience.

In addition to the reward of being a key part of the success of an iconic Canadian event, working with likeminded people and making new friends, volunteers also receive a volunteer t-shirt that is yours to keep, and those completing their hours are invited to a post-event appreciation celebration.

We review all applications personally and select the team once we have completed our recruitment outreach. Applicants will be updated on next steps in the process throughout the program.

The volunteer recruitment and application process kicks off in April. Selected volunteers will gain access to the schedule to sign up starting mid-May. We are pleased to offer self-scheduling through the interactive portal. You will have the opportunity to select the shifts of your choice based on availability at the time of scheduling.

Volunteering alongside your spouse or friend is a terrific way to participate in the festival. Volunteers have the opportunity to self-schedule from available shifts. If completed at the same time, you should be able to achieve this goal. Make sure to include the name of the person you want to volunteer with on your application. Missed telling us? Yes! We will be hosting an orientation meeting for all selected volunteers, timing to be announced.

Volunteers are provided with an official Toronto Jazz Festival t-shirt to be worn with pants, mid-thigh shorts or skirts, and clean shoes. Volunteers are required to wear this uniform while on duty unless otherwise directed.

Filling out an application doesn’t commit you to service. You can sign up to be updated on program details and information while you decide if you want to participate. You are not considered a committed, confirmed volunteer until you have signed up for duty.

Toronto Jazz Festival is a returning Volunteer Award for Arts and Culture in Toronto (VAACT) member organization. Everyone checking that box on the volunteer application, who completes 15 volunteer hour,s without any No Shows or last-minute cancellations, will receive a stamp at the end of the festival.
